I usually don’t love rainy days. I’m not one to sit around
in my PJ’s curled up on the couch – that’s just not me. But today - the rain is
just what I needed. I had plans to go to
the gym, take my kids to lunch with some neighbors, run errands all over town,
and the list goes on. Today things just didn’t go as planned. My little Austin
was up all night with a nasty earache and we spent part of the morning at the
Dr’s office and now we’re all home, cuddled up by the fireplace watching Nick
JR, catching up on my blog, attempting to have a successful 1st day
of potty training (Cayden), reading the other 1/2 of a book I started weeks ago about parenting (ha!), resting, trying to get my voice back (yeah, the
mommy’s sick, too) – so thank you rain, we all needed you today.
So here’s a list of
my random thoughts for today:
·
I love the sound of the dishwasher running and
my dryer running at the same time. I love the smell of clean laundry and how
warm it feels when it first comes out of the dryer.
·
Potty training takes patience and work, and a commitment
to stay home – close to the potty for an entire day or two (and plenty of time
to do loads of… laundry).
·
Moms can never call in sick; if you read the
fine print that’s just part of the job description J
·
Moms who talk way to much and like to attend wedding
showers, play dates, and stay up late talking to the hubby, should know better –
our voices won’t ever get better if we don’t shut up once in a while. It’s
true: I talk way too much.
·
I love going away but I love coming home; I love
how cozy it feels just being here: in my home with my sweet little boys. I love
being a mom – this just feels so right and I wouldn’t trade this job or my role
as a mom for anything in the world.
And now I’m going to go back a few months… trying to catch
up on our family blog. It’s a silly goal but I do like to keep this thing
updated, since I don’t keep a traditional journal like I used to this is my
only way of documenting what goes on around here. So here we go: Starting with November.
I planned a trip to Texas to visit my family: my sweet mom,
my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, some of my close friends, and just get
reacquainted with my hometown: The Woodlands… so many memories here.
My GrandDaddy has had some serious health issues and I went to visit with the thought in mind that this might be my last time to visit him. He was so frail and has lost so much weight since I’ve last seen him. Since my visit back in Nov., my Grandmother’s health has taken a turn for the worst and now we’re all worried that her days are numbered (she’s suffering from heart failure), and so I’m just so glad I was able to see both of them. I really hope I’ll be able to see them again but we just never know…
My mom and I went out to visit my Aunt Sue and Uncle Jerry @ College Station.
Dinner with my Uncle Sam, Aunt Lori, John & Sarah, and Riley.
My very best friend from high school: Natalie. It's funny how some friendships never change, no matter how many years go by Natalie and I get together and we pick right back up where we left off. She'll always be such a special friend to me for so many reasons. She's kind of like another sister to me and her home was like my 2nd home (and yes, when I felt to urge to "run away" I always ended up at her place). I love her.
So when I called Natalie to tell her I was coming down to visit she screamed and we were both so excited to get together. She called some of our friends and it was such a surprise - I got to see some of my friends from high school and catch up with everyone.
Natalie and I went on a few play-dates, we had a picnic with some of her neighbors at the park.
North Shore Park. My mom and I took a day and shopped around at Old Town Spring:
Portofino @ the Woodlands
Play Zone with Natalie and her kids:
Lunch @ Guadalajara; we worked here :-)
Visiting my cousin, Robert, his wife: Corinne, and their family:
Lunch @ America's at The Woodlands Waterway with my mom, Amy and Greg (I got to see my sister and her hubby while they were in town!).
My little sis, Amy. She's gorgeous, so smart, and so sweet. I just love her. Riding the Trolley:
And that's that. My trip to Texas in a nutshell; can't wait to go back.
